AVA Gallery 2006

I have spent many summers in the Finnish archipelago on the island of Kumlinge. Every morning we go fishing in a wooden rowing boat and the clean the fish by the sea. Seagulls and terns arrive soon, and the sea, the sky and the rocks nearby are full of them. I wanted to capture this memory: the wide space around me and birds screaming. The people in these paintings are a part of the landscape, strong and fragile at the same time.

I have painted a lot on birds lately. The dark colors i used to favor have now become lighter. I realize that i`m becoming more and more fascinated by life and the wonderful moments that you can experience in nature.
